Barbara Beth Taylor and Travis Dale Burke met in 1954 at Southern State
College, Magnolia, AR.  After their marriage in 1957, they lived on the
campus of the University of Oklahoma, Norman, OK until Travis graduated
in January 1959.  Barbara had graduated from SSC in 1957, and worked for
the Athletic Dept. and  later for Western Electric  in OKC during this time in
Oklahoma.

Travis  went to work for Halliburton Services in February 1959 for whom he
worked until retirement in 1993.  The Burkes enjoyed living in 10 different
places (transfers) during those years and are happily retired in North
Louisiana!  Barbara adjusted her work and life to fit the current situation
wherever/whenever it changed.

Surprise Celebration at Lake Greeson

Travis and Barbara were surprised with a celebration of their 50th Wedding
Anniversary at the Burke Family Reunion on June 23, 2007, at Lake
Greeson in Arkansas. Their daughters-in-law and sons (names below
pictures) provided the cakes pictured below.  Their niece and nephew,
Amanda and Alan Baker of Texarkana, AR  provided the homemade ice
cream after the main reunion dinner in the evening. The reunion dinner was
on the two Baker relatives' (Hubert Baker; Alan Baker) adjoining
houseboats followed by the surprise cakes and congratulatory gifts and
cards.  Travis's brother and sister and their families were there.
Their most memorable gift is their grandbaby born, August 21, 2007, in
Tulsa to Tammy and Michael.  Proud big brother is Tanner (13), son of
Michael by a previous marriage. The baby arrived between Tammy and
Michael's first wedding anniversary, August 19, and Barbara and Travis's
fiftieth,  August 25.  Tammy's mom, Mary Brown of Yukon, OK  is the
maternal grandmother.  Tammy's father is deceased.

The first weekend in December Barbara and Travis  participated in an
anniversary celebration at Cypress Baptist Church in Benton, LA.  Couples
who had been married 50 years or over celebrated with a weekend of
events, one of which was renewing wedding vows.  They were invited to do
this at their former church by the Senior Adult Minister with whom Barbara,
as a volunteer,  worked closely for several years.
